In a glittering ceremony held last night, 21-year-old Kyanna Dyer of Dominica was crowned Miss OECS 2025, marking a triumphant moment for the young information technology officer and seasoned pageant contestant. Dyer succeeds Claire Smartt of Saint Lucia, who held the regional title for the past year.

The event, which showcased the talent, poise, and intellect of five contestants from across the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS), was a celebration of Caribbean beauty and culture. St. Lucia’s Timiqua Deterville secured the first runner-up position, while Lisha Beache of St. Vincent and the Grenadines was named second runner-up.

A Rising Star with a Proven Track Record

Dyer, who currently serves as an Information Technology Officer with the Government of Dominica, is no stranger to the pageant stage. Her impressive resume includes titles such as Miss Dominica 2024, Miss Convent High School 2019, and Miss Teen Dominica 2019. She also earned the coveted “Best Talent” award at the Miss Haynes Smith Caribbean Talented Teen Pageant in 2019, solidifying her reputation as a multifaceted and dynamic competitor.

In her acceptance speech, Dyer expressed gratitude to her supporters and emphasized her commitment to using her platform to advocate for youth empowerment and technological innovation in the region. “This crown is not just for me—it’s for every young person in the OECS who dreams big and works hard to achieve their goals,” she said.

A Night of Glamour and Celebration

The pageant, held at a packed venue, featured a series of segments designed to highlight the contestants’ intelligence, creativity, and cultural pride. From evening gown presentations to talent showcases, the event underscored the diversity and vibrancy of the OECS nations.

Deterville, the first runner-up from St. Lucia, captivated the audience with her eloquent responses during the interview segment, while Beache of St. Vincent and the Grenadines wowed the judges with her performance in the talent competition.

A Platform for Change

As Miss OECS 2025, Dyer will take on a year-long role that includes representing the OECS at regional and international events, promoting social causes, and serving as an ambassador for Caribbean culture. Her win is seen as a testament to her dedication and the growing influence of young women in the region.

“Kyanna embodies the spirit of the OECS—resilient, talented, and forward-thinking,” said one of the pageant organizers. “We are confident that she will use her reign to make a meaningful impact.”

Looking Ahead

Dyer’s victory has already sparked celebrations in Dominica, where she is regarded as a role model for young people. Her journey from local pageants to the regional stage serves as an inspiration to aspiring contestants across the Caribbean.

As she prepares to take on her new responsibilities, Dyer remains focused on her mission to inspire and uplift. “This is just the beginning,” she said. “Together, we can build a brighter future for the OECS and beyond.”

The Miss OECS pageant continues to be a platform for showcasing the region’s brightest talents, and Kyanna Dyer’s win is a reminder of the power of perseverance, passion, and purpose.
